Belts, grading & Syllabus

What are Gradings?

A Grading is a practical test, whereby the student demonstrates to their instructor the knowledge that he or she has learnt thus far.
Taking a formal grading and being awarded your next belt is one of the most rewarding parts of practising a martial art.

At Seishin Ju-Jitsu we believe that each grade should be a challenge, and gradings should neither be too frequent nor a given.

How do Gradings work?

A student will be entered for Grading when the instructor thinks he or she is ready, and has been able to understand and demonstrate what they've learnt.

On passing a Grading, the student will be awarded their next Belt, a Certificate and will have their Licence Book stamped.

What is a Syllabus?

The Syllabus is a structured set of Techniques which a pupil will be taught, and is expected to learn and understand, in order to advance.
